Post accident drug screens are mandatory for all workers' compensation injuries. Since the Workers' Compensation Act is specific about the proper procedures, all post accident drug screens are to be referred to Employment Screening Services, Inc for the WorkersFirst CompFund. ESS maintains consistency for all the Fund claims to make sure the requirements of the Alabama Workers Compensation Act are met. They also report results immediately to the employer, the Fund and to Avizent.

Drug screening packets are provided to all Fund members by ESS. A supply of these packets should be available for each job site and in your office as well as in the office of the primary care physician who normally treats your injuries that occur while in the course of employment. Make sure the chain of custody form and instructions goes with the injured employee if he is working at a location that requires he be referred to an emergency room or a doctor other than your primary care physician.
